Direct measurement of pH on paper and leather are fast and accurate with the HI 99171N pH meter and the flat tip probe designed to optimize surface contact with the sample. pH measurement of papers and cartons is important, not only in the production phase, but also in the packaging phase. The food industry, for example, performs many compatibility tests; one of these is pH. Measurements are automatically compensated for the effects of temperature and the LCD continuously displays the samples temperature. All operations can be performed simply with 2 buttons; messages and symbols on the display guide the user through measurement and calibration procedures. pH and temperature ranges are extended, from -2.00 to 16.00 pH and -5.0 to 105.0 °C, respectively. Calibration is automatic at 1 or 2 points, selectable by the user between 2 memorized buffer sets. Battery life is more than 1500 hours and the percentage of remaining charge is displayed while the meter is on. HI 99171N turns off automatically after 8 minutes of inactivity.
